Newsletter May 2024
This expansion comes at a critical time in the aviation industry: urban congestion and environmental concerns are accelerating the global demand for eVTOL aircraft - and eVTOL pilots. The industry's ability to effectively train and scale a new, specialized pilot workforce will be strained by a growing pilot shortage. The need for VR simulators to increase access to the safest, highest quality eVTOL training has never been greater.
Loft Fest 2024: A Gathering of Aviation Visionaries
Our first-ever Loft Fest brought together aviation innovators from around the world. Over three days, pilots, operators, investors, and industry veterans experienced our VR flight simulators, shared insights, and built connections. Highlights included flight demos, new partnerships, and expert panels. Loft Fest welcomed some of the best minds in aviation to discuss making the industry safer, more sustainable, and more innovative. Current Mixed Reality Head-Mounted Displays Are Unsuitable for Pilot Training, Stanford University Study Reaffirms
Dangers uncovered in the study demonstrate why virtual reality remains the only extended reality pilot training solution with regulatory approval. Loft Dynamics CEO Fabi Riesen urges aviation authorities and operators to carefully review the findings, particularly amid rising mixed reality adoption. Additionally, he encourages innovators to prioritize the use of virtual reality over mixed reality in pilot training.
